Mount Rainier holds a special place my heart. I discovered the Pacific Northwest when traveling on business there in the early 1990’s. I remember thinking “why hasn’t anyone ever told me about this place?”. I fell in love with the endless wilderness that defines the character of Washington State. This particular photo was taken in 1995 (film). My wife and I would plan an annual trek to various parts of the state each summer, immersing ourselves deeply in the woods and leaving the rest of the world behind. Our long hikes around Mount Rainier, and our long conversations about everything, will forever make “the mountain” a very special place for us.
“Of all the fire mountains which like beacons, once blazed along the Pacific Coast, Mount Rainier is the noblest.” – John Muir
