One of the things I love about nature and landscape photography is finding that quiet spot in the woods, at the beach or on a mountaintop. As far back as high school, I remember making time to grab my camera and heading out for a few hours to find an inspiring scene. Sometimes I found something amazing and sometimes I didn’t. Nevertheless, the journey gave me time to reflect, recenter and refresh. This was my quiet time.

I took these pictures not long ago in South Carolina. It was getting close to sunset and I was just about to leave the area I had staked to take some photographs of the marsh. Of all the planned shots I took that day, these just kind of happened and ended being some of may favorites. There’s a story there somewhere.
“Softly the evening came with the sunset.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
