Listening to Bruce Springsteen this week reminded me of one of my favorite songs from his 1973 Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ album, Growing Up. Watching my two little girls grow into two amazing young ladies has been an experience that I will always cherish. Seeing them at the end of this walkway to the beach reminds me of the wonderful journey we have taken together, and also how much they love one another. Like the trees hanging over the path, there have been so many supportive teachers and role models that have protected them and helped them become the smart, strong and independent young women they are today. Without any hesitation, I can attest that “when they said, “Sit down,” I stood up” is part of who they are. I have every confidence that they are ready to go out into the world, stand up, and make a difference in the lives of those they touch.
“When I was growing up, there were two things that were unpopular in my house. One was me, and the other was my guitar.” – Bruce Springsteen
