Every four years, we celebrate the inauguration of a new President. This peaceful transfer of power is the backbone of our democracy. Even though it creates headaches for those of us that live and work here, the momentary inconvenience is worth the celebration of this great American tradition. I took this photo in 2010 during another crowded DC season; the peak of Cherry Blossoms. Like the sun wrapping around Mr. Jefferson, America looks forward with great hope that a light will shine over our great nation, allowing us to find strength through unity, peace through compassion and a future filled with blessings for every American.
“There is always light. If only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.” – Amanda Gorman
Beautiful photo! And love the quote by Amanda Gorman.
Thanks Carolyn. It was hard to choose only one line to pull from her beautiful poem. She is an incredible writer and an exceptional young lady.
